How much training is a physician assistant required to have to receive a license?

A physician assistant (PA) must attend and graduate from an approved, accredited two-year physician assistant training program.


How long does it take to receive an Arizona license?

Board staff has up to 30 days for the administrative review of an Initial PA license application. R4-17-102(D)

The time-frame for the Board to finish the administrative completeness review is suspended from the date the Board mails the deficiency notice to the applicant until the date the Board received the missing information.


How much is a license?

The license application processing fee is $125.00. Once the license is approved, there is a $100.00 pro-rated licensing fee.


Are physician assistants in Arizona required to obtain Continuing Medical Education (CME)?

Physician assistants are required to complete 20 credit hours of CME per calendar year. A PA may not carry excess hours over to another year. The Arizona Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants conducts random CME audits to ensure that physician assistants are meeting their obligations.
